HCW = Hot Carcass Weight and in this usage shall be defined as: the unchilled carcass weight taken shortly after slaughter and following removal of the hide, head, gastrointestinal tract, and internal organs.

HCW is approx. 50-55% of the Live Weight for Cattle, Sheep, & Goats; 65-70% for Pigs. This ratio may vary depending on a number of factors such as the age, breed, sex, and body condition of the animal.

Cattle prices include a $4 brand inspection fee and $1.50 WA Beef Commission Checkoff.

Cattle hides are part of the kill fee.

Listed prices are minimums the final price may be adjusted by PSMPC's representative on site at time of slaughter.

Adjustments to prices will be based on additional processing time required at the listed hourly rate and may include charges for USDA overtime.

Animals presented for slaughter in an unsatisfactory condition may be refused by the USDA inspector &/or PSMPC representative.

Animals in an unsatisfactory condition (according to PSMPC's representative) that are acceptable to the USDA, (e.g. filthy animals, no “kill strip” on sheep) will incur additional processing fees at the listed hourly rate and a $20/animal penalty.

Animals that are judged by PSMPC's representative as unable to be safely handled (e.g. extremely large or unruly) may be refused.

he animal owner is responsible for prompt removal & hauling of any animal that, for any reason whatsoever, cannot be slaughtered.

All prices include carcass hauling to the designated partner Cut & Wrap facility for that day. Hauling to any other facility is at the animal owner’s sole risk, responsibility, and cost.
